Introducing Labuta Laureada Botanics & Bamboo

There is something special about making things from the place where you live.

Here at Labuta Laureada, surrounded by the hills, woodland, river and gardens of the Serra da Estrela, we are constantly inspired by the natural materials around us. Our Botanics and Bamboo collection grew from that simple idea: take inspiration from the land, work with natural materials, and make beautiful things by hand.

Botanics from our surroundings

Our botanical collection begins with the plants and foliage that give this part of Portugal its distinctive character.

Our dried eucalyptus, for example, is selected for its beautiful silver-green leaves, natural shape and subtle aroma. Left to dry naturally, it becomes a long-lasting botanical decoration for the home — equally at home in a simple vase, hanging in a bathroom or forming part of a larger dried arrangement.

We love the idea that something grown outdoors can continue to bring a little of that landscape indoors.

Bamboo, by hand

Bamboo has become another important part of our creative work.

Fast-growing, versatile and wonderfully tactile, bamboo lends itself to all kinds of practical and decorative objects. Rather than trying to make every piece identical, we embrace the natural variations in the material and the character that comes from making things by hand.

Our Shiny Spirals dry flower vases are individually shaped from bamboo and finished with a smooth varnish, creating sculptural pieces that look beautiful with dried flowers or simply standing alone.

Our Duo Delicate Dark combines a small dried-flower vase with a matching photograph or menu holder — perfect for a bedside table, dining table, event or special celebration.

Making the table special

Our bamboo table decorations and tableware are designed around the same philosophy.

We like tables that feel natural rather than overly formal — somewhere people can sit, eat, talk, laugh and stay a little longer than they intended.

A handmade bamboo piece, a few dried stems, a beautiful serving dish or a simple place holder can completely change the feeling of a table without needing to overwhelm it.

For us, good design doesn't have to shout.

Small scale. Handmade. Connected to place.

The Labuta Laureada shop is not about mass production.

We make things in small quantities, experiment with materials, and allow each piece to retain some of the imperfections and variations that come with natural materials and human hands.

Some pieces are made here at Labuta Laureada. Others are created with local makers and materials from the surrounding region.

The result is a growing collection of botanicals, bamboo objects, table pieces and small treasures for the home — each with a connection to the place we call home.

And that's really what we're hoping to share with you.
